The Institute for African Pumzikio and Exploration (iAPE, for short) is an informal organization of interested scientists, master gunsmiths, historians, geographers and hunter/gatherers. Our objective is to create a forum for open discussion of anything we want to talk about regarding Africa.
Pumzikio is a Swahili word referring to a place of relaxation or recreation. For example, people might find a forum for discussing Africa a pumzikio.
iAPE is a loose society with only a few rules (subject to change and to be applied retroactively):
- Beer (or other spirituous pleasurables) should be consumed at each meeting and during all presentations.
- Strange "huts" are encouraged.
- No Djibouti or Djiboutisms.
- Do no "harm."
- The rest is just sort of common sense (e.g., don't throw hedgehogs at balloon parties).
